Yerevan is one of those cities which can boast with its antiquity. The formation of the city dates back to 782 BC. This is the period when the legendary Rome not existed yet. The City was founded by the king of Urartian – Argishti I. There was built the Fortress of Erenbuni on the hill of Arin-Berd. The name of the city – Yerevan comes from the name of the fortress.
