What are the rush hours in Tbilisi?

On weekdays, the main rush hours in Tbilisi are usually 8:30 – 10:00 in the morning and 17:30 – 20:00 in the evening. The evening rush usually lasts longer, with traffic becoming especially heavy around the end of the workday. Friday evening can be particularly busy as people leave the city for the weekend.

Traffic is usually lighter between 10:30 and 16:30 and after 21:00. Weekend mornings are generally quieter, but traffic can increase later in the day, especially in the city center and on roads leading toward Mtskheta.

During weekday rush hours, allow extra time for trips across the city. A journey that takes 20 – 30 minutes when traffic is light can take considerably longer when the main roads are busy.

Traffic conditions can also change because of accidents, roadworks, bad weather or events in the city. If you need to travel during rush hour, check the live traffic situation before you leave and allow some extra time for your trip.
